The Length of The Backbone Measuring should be done along the dog's backbone from the base of the neck to the base of the tail. This is from the base of where the collar rests to where the tail is attached as shown with the top line measurement on our picture above. However, it's important that the dog's chest girth be taken into account as well as the top line measurement. If the garment is slightly longer or shorter this ok as the dog's overall comfort should not be compromised.
The Broadest Part of The Chest For chest measurement, measure the chest at its widest point, which is typically right behind the front legs. If the dog has a large girth, going up a size in the top line measurement (the length) is always a smart choice. If the chest is measured too tight, the dog will find it hard to fully expand its chest when breathing.
The Circumference of The Neck Measuring should be done around the base of the neck with the head of the dog in the upright position. Measure around the widest part of the neck depending on the breed. If the neck is measured too tight, the dog will find it hard to breathe so we recommend you allow approximately one inch (2.5cm) flexibility.
Important Notice We always have your dog’s best interest at heart and would advise that due to the wide range of dog sizing and differences in breeds, customers should allow some flexibility in the fitting of our garments. This is for the benefit of your dog’s health, safety and comfort.
